The purpose of the observatory is for astronomy and aeronomy research and will consist of three dual submillimeter and optical telescopes placed in a triangular configuration on the perimeter of Cotahuasi Canyon, a radio telescope array across the floor and the perimeter of the canyon, and three weather observation stations in an opposing triangular configuration on the perimeter of the canyon. Construction will begin at the end of the current storm cycle and is expected to take no more than two years to complete. ComStar AP News Service It has been three days since the disappearance of Ryan Higa, CFO of Shepard Energy on Belvoir. Mr. Higa vanished from the crash site of his limousine, the cause of which is still unknown at this time. The driver Maxwell Holly was found injured and unconscious at the scene and upon examination not all his injuries were caused by the crash. Mr. Holly has yet to regain consciousness and remains in critical condition. Looking a bit like a big glass barn, this two-floor building is an excellent venue with a capacity of just 1200. The first floor, where the atmosphere is generated, is all standing. The second floor is more of a balcony that seats 200 in sections. From anywhere inside is a good view of the stage. The most interesting nights at the Blitz are Thursdays Open Stage Nights. The jam sessions occur weekly and are open to all comers. Anything and everything goes, musically anyway. Top class Nejiro and visiting bands are regularly on the schedule, many of the performances are broadcast live on television. The venue is often closed to the public for private events. ComStar AP News Service 31 Killed and Hundreds Injured during pirate attack on Brightwood Explosive devices were planted and remotely detonated in forty-five minute intervals at five different local malls in the city of Warszawa as a distraction for two separate attacks. Most of the pirate force went after several power relay stations and destroyed them while holding off the militia; they wrecked three VTOLS, two tanks and severely damaged two mechs. It’s in my opinion the best armor for bodyguarding Grandmother. What no amount of toggling between telescopic and mag res will do, however, is make up for leaking atmospheric seals. The scent of burning human bodies is something I never wanted to smell again, and although the armor protected me from most of it, I wanted to lose my guts. Watching Grandmother helped me, though. Despite the hair crawling out from under her surgical cap, despite the sweat, her attention didn’t shift from the injured. Made it pretty much necessary, though, to give her a bodyguard. She’d never notice a sniper before it was too late. Or I could be wrong. I think that she may have noticed Bisho coming before I did. He, at least, looked like I felt, stumbling slightly and white faced as a newborn baby, breathing shallowly to try and keep himself away from the smell. Most recently, the selection of Overall Unit Commander. Instead, I find that it was held without my knowledge at an earlier time and at a location yet to be disclosed to me and resulted in the Steiner and Capellan commanders being selected as overall Unit Commander and XO respectively of the mixed mercenary command. This change in command structure without any prior notification to or input from my unit (if it actually occurred) is in direct breach of our contract. Also, I have grave reservations about these traditional enemies of my people, who both, I might add, have already shown a preference for excluding my unit from decisions and not supporting my men on the battlefield, being given the power to control my unit's troop movements. Years are traditionally viewed as completely separate with each new year providing a fresh start. It is celebrated from December 28th - January 4th. January 1 is a very auspicious day best started by viewing the new year's first sunrise (hatsu-hinode), traditionally believed to be representative for the whole year that will commence. Therefore, the day is supposed to be full of joy and free of stress and anger, while everything should be clean, and no work should be done. Most businesses and government offices shut down January 1st - 3rd, and families gather to spend the day together. Most dress up in their most festive kimonos to observe hatsumode (the first shrine visits of the year), and after praying to the deities of the shrine, people line up to buy omikuji (lucky charms) and hamaya (demon exorcism arrow) with the zodiac of the year. And all children enjoy receiving otoshidama (new year's money) from all their adult family members. The holiday begins on the 28th with Osoji (great housecleaning), all the dirt that accumulated in homes and workplaces over the previous year needs to be cleaned away and symbolizes a fresh spirit and new beginning. Then homes are decorated with new year ornaments welcoming the new year gods’ blessings and warding off misfortune and unclean spirits. The postal deadline for nengajo (new year greeting cards), a very popular custom where handwritten greetings are sent to family, friends and coworkers updating them on the years progress and offering good wishes for the upcoming year, individuals usually send out several dozen; they are to be at the post office by close of business on the 29th for special delivery on January 1st. Also, on this day all the preparations for osechi-ryori are made. Akagumi, the Red Team is composed of female artists or groups led by female vocals. Shirogumi, the White Team is the male artists or groups led by male vocals. The honor of performing on Kohaku is strictly by invitation, so only the most successful singing acts in the entertainment industry may perform. NHK broadcasts the show live to millions of viewers, and a performance on Kohaku is a big highlight in a singer’s career due to the shows wide reach. Stonehaven Fire Festival at Hogmanay In the Kiso Mountains, southwest of Ceallach on the shores of Loch Shin, stands the oldest surviving town on Nejiro, Stonehaven. The Fire Festival has been held here since before The Founding. The Fire Festival is held to burn off the bad spirits left from the old year so that the spirit of the new year can come in clean and fresh. The festival begins at sunset with the lighting of The Bonfire. The festival continues with fire performers (dancers, jugglers and object manipulators), many of which light their props from The Bonfire. There are also drummers, pipe bands, fiddlers, story tellers, ceilidh dancers and Celtic fusion bands. There is a rich selection of food including curries, dumplings, scones, whiskey, bannocks, shortbread, black buns, crepes, hand pies, and beer. At eleven the crowd gathers around The Bonfire as The Marchers construct the fireballs; balls of chicken wire with juniper and other dry flammable materials, up to two feet in diameter, with a wire, chain or nonflammable rope up to three feet in length. As the crowd sings Auld Lang Syne the fireballs are set alight from The Bonfire. The Marchers; in costume and painted faces; continuously swing the fireballs around their heads and following The Pipers, circle The Bonfire several times then set off from High Street down to Mercat Cross then on to the Cannon and back. Spectators beware. At the end of the procession; while the bells of the Tower house ring in the midnight hour; the burning fireballs are cast into the loch. This signals the launch of the fireworks from barges on the loch, to mark the start of the new year. Now the party begins and continues for the next two days. You see small flashes of light on the front of the small vehicles, then you see sparks fly on the half-tracks. The small vehicles pass the convoy trucks. “Wait something is moving in from the other direction.” The camera pans to the left and a dust cloud is moving in on the convoy. “It looks like the bandits have more help moving in on the convoy.” Behind the hill another dust cloud moving at high speed looks to be circling around to get in front of the convoy. “This does not look good for the convoy as more bandits are moving in from different directions.” The four small vehicles circle around the front of the half-track convoy and then head off in the direction the first entered. The chopper keeps moving in a large circle to its left. Off in the background you can see some form of VTOL aircraft moving into the area. The half-track convoy is heading to the road and the bridge by the river. A large combat vehicle kicking up a lot of dust is moving in on the convoy. “Well, it looks like if the small bandits do not get the convoy these others will.” The chopper turns harder to the left to not crash into the hill or trees on it. Two small dust clouds are now moving in on the convoy. “Wow two more bandits moving in on this poor convoy. They must have something some wants.” In the background of the noise in the chopper you can just make out. “This is Captain Lorren Botley to all vehicles in the area, shut down your vehicles. If you do not comply, we will be forced to fire on you.” “Sgt. Exhume to Capt. Botley, sir the half-tracks are taking fire from the ATVs.” “Roger that Sgt.” “Capt. Move to protect the half-track convoy.” The camera picks up to large hovercraft moving to put themselves between the convoy and the bandit vehicles. The forest is temperate and receives large amounts of precipitation and is dominated by evergreen conifer species, primarily Douglas-fir, also Nanmu, Hemlock, Red Cedar, Bigleaf Maple, and Red Alder. The forest provides a habitat for a diverse group of wildlife including black wolves, Nero cougars, spotted owls, taiga lynx, caribou, silver trout, red elk, and otters. All candidates must review and show completion of the following courses on MAWS.net before your TBS session begins The Basic School Reading List Business Writing: editing and proofreading Business Writing: sentence construction Business Writing: mechanics of writing Business Writing: punctuation Combat Orders and Reports Tutorial Warfighting Tactics Planning Command and Control Leadership Operational Terms and Graphics Records Management Training All candidates must provide proof of physical fitness and certification of being medically ready and able to train All candidates must provide certification of qualifications in rifle, pistol, and swim Candidates should be prepared for dismounted movement under load at a 4.83kph pace up to ten miles, candidates may anticipate multiple individual land navigation events, and unit field exercises on uneven terrain in daylight and darkness within an area up to twenty square kilometers. Candidates may also anticipate running a double standard obstacle course, as well as the TBS Endurance Course. There will be ten weeks of 'class time' and PFT's that includes combat conditioning practical applications, skill training, tactical decision games, sand table exercises, decision forcing cases, and platform instruction of leadership, tactics, strategy, military history, military philosophy, and protocol.
