# Marceau confronts Jasmine **Scene** Marceau is a bit worried about Jasmine's tone in recent after mission reports **Location** Jasmine's Office **Actors** [[Jasmine Or’lient]] and [[Marceau Barbeau]] **Language** Mix of French and Swedish. Primarily Swedish *A seated Jasmine sees Marceau just outside her office and waves him in* Jasmine: Welcome Marceau. I'm glad the Sturmfeur got a chance this time. It's rare our heavies actually make it into useful range like that. Marceau: Permission to speak freely. Sir. Jasmine: Close the door then yes. *Marceau makes sure the door is closed and as he turns around Jasmine is standing* Marceau: I've been listening to the after mission reports and reading the translation. Jasmine: I'd love your input. *Jasmine says this evenly without a hint of sarcasm* *Marceau is calmed a little by this but is still almost yelling* Marceau: These after action reports are too casual, and too abstracted. This last mission was a complete cluster from the hot drop to trying to save that plant. Carl, Kiah's brother is in bad shape, and you only mentioned it in passing. What is going on? Why are these reports so tame? Jasmine: After mission reports are for everyone to read. *Marceau is getting more upset* Marceau: Everyone should hear when it goes poorly. You should let people know. *Jasmine keeps eye contact* Jasmine: I do. Marceau: But how are we to know? Are you actually angry? Do you feel anything? I've known you forever and would have expected something. *Jasmine walk out from behind her desk* Jasmine: See how you can question me? In private with the door closed? How calm I am? Does that tell you something? Marceau: No, but I'm sure you'll tell me. Jasmine: It says "I was ready". We just got back and where is Indigo? *Marceau goes to talk but Jasmine holds up her hand* Jasmine: He's with Carl already. He and his team were not directly needed but are accompanying them, and will be there while they stablize and get Carl comfortable. And he won't leave until they are sure they won't need him _or us_ right there. Where is that in any of the reports? *Marceau shakes his head* Jasmine: It's not there because Carl's status is private. It's his own. Indigo is there in case there is anything we can do. That's how I feel. Jasmine: As for the mission itself, Everyone made it out alive. We failed. That is known. Do you think I like failure? *Marceau shakes his head* Jasmine: Chrysanthemum crashed on that drop, but she landed in arguably the best location and where we wanted to land. She gets to practice some when Ambrosia is back, but she did well. So on site, with her, I made sure she realized that. That was her first mission and it was _bad_. If all there was was anger, how do you think she would feel? She already won't use those Jump Jets. I'm curious how easy it will be to get her on the plane to get back. *Jasmine motions for Marceau to sit* Jasmine: I am angry at how things went. But being angry doesn't help us next time. Learning does. *Marceau sits down* Marceau: But showing you are angry shows other groups and others on our team that you are unhappy. *Jasmine gets a bit frustrated* Jasmine: Showing that I am angry doesn't _do_ anything. Would acting angry have stopped WoB from attacking our home after we left? Would acting angry have saved even one more person or stopped one bullet? You want to know how to tell if I am angry? *Marceau nods* Marceau: I've known you your whole life. I've never seen it. *Jasmine smiles* Jasmine: Are people's peaceful lives being disturbed? Then I'm angry. You talk about Carl and how the mission went. What about the workers? Not once have you mentioned them. Chrysanthemum is still at that plant. She's helping. I have resources, and people precious to me out in the world and not at home because someone has decided that peace is overrated. *Jasmine sighs* Jasmine: I don't expect to one day just not need to fight anymore. I've been in a war stance for decades now. Kem and I are married, technically, but have had no service or ceremony because we've not have a moment's respite for how long now? *Jasmine goes back behind her desk and places both hands on it to brace herself while standing* Jasmine: But, it appears not everyone knows that. And this too can be a change to learn and change. *Jasmine sits down* Marceau: What do you mean? Jasmine: I'm not sure yet. I will keep focused on what we can learn and improve upon. I need to do that. I need to get our damaged units back into action. I need to make do with what little resources we currently have. Clover is on a mission with 3 units of the 268th for heaven's sake. I'm not sure what we could do about this. *Jasmine look directly at Marceau* Jasmine: I'll think on it, but ask around and see if you can come up with somethig. And let anyone know that I will tell them how I felt about a mission, but in private. Actually, I'll share this discussion with permission as another after action report. ## TL;DR Most after mission things have been tame or light hearted in some way. And am not a *serious things* writer. So I intend to try, but hey, I just watched the A-Team movie for the first time so know how to hot drop in a tank now. Parachutes and a big gun. More seriously, I'm paving the way to flesh out more of the families and also not have everyone have the same tone of voice. Anything else mentioned will have it's own scene. Much shorter than this.
