A detached element including Victoria Sabin and other GSR operatives moved along an interception route while Captain Botley’s group attempted a head-on intercept of the Ronin and their escort. The Ronin reached close to the border before intercepting forces could close; attempts to seize them failed for lack of positioning. Bounty hunter Max Pain scored hits reported to have damaged the legs of the Dragon Fire. Friendly reconnaissance obtained positive identifications on four escort BattleMechs: a Dragon Fire (leg damage), a Warhammer 6D, an Archer 5R, and a Hankyu equipped with Salamander Battle Armor. Other escort elements were observed as three Galleon light tanks, a Badger tracked transport, and a Rifleman-class BattleMech but could not be uniquely identified before the reconnaissance asset returned to base due to fuel limits. Sergeant Cassandra and Captain Botley observed the rescue force withdraw to a high ground vantage.
